MANIPULATIVE and HANDS-ON THERAPIES

Reflexology
Manipulating areas on the feet (and sometimes hands)
to affect the rest of the body.

(Therapeutic) Massage
Stroking, rubbing and manipulating the entire body, using the fingers,
hands and sometimes the arms to help relax and relieve the body of stress,
stiffness, soreness and pain and to stimulate cleansing and detoxification
of the lymphatic system.

Acupressure
A 2,000-year old Chinese method of easing pain and maintaining health.  
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles at specific points to relate to
different parts of the body.  Acupressure uses the fingers instead of
needles in a technique similar to acupuncture.


BOTANICAL

Aromatherapy
Use of essential oils from plants and flowers massaged into the skin,
added to bath, defused into the environment or inhaled.

Herbology
Promoting health and treating illness with plant derivatives.  Consumed in
extract, tincture, tea, dietary and supplement (tablet and capsule) forms.

Homeopathy
Treating disease with tiny doses of natural substances that in larger
amounts would cause the same symptoms as the ailment (the theory that
like cures like).


LIFE-STYLE

(Ancestral) Macrobiotic Diet
Dietary and health discipline based on using the individual’s ancestral diet
to balance Yin (passive energy) and Yang (active energy).  The Macrobiotic
diet’s focus is on restoring and maintaining balance by eating in season for
the environment where an individual lives.

Wholistic Healing
Variation from conventional medicine that emphasizes whole health; the
spirit, the mind, the body, life-style and psychological factors.

Diet and Nutrition
Let your food be your medicine, let you medicine be your food.

Hydro-Therapy, Colon Therapy & Colon Irrigation
Using water to facilitate external and internal cleansing and healing.  Colon
therapy is the introduction of water (plus various solutions) into the colon via
the anal/rectal opening.

Iridology
An ancient healing art using patterns in the iris of the eye to determine what
ails you.  Fine nerve filaments of the iris are linked to the central nervous
system and reflect changing conditions in the associated body part(s).

NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming)
Neuro means “nervous system”, Linguistic means “language”,
Programming means “a sequence of operations”.  Using the science of the
senses (sight, sound, touch, smell and taste) and their corresponding
modalities (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory and gustatory) to facilitate
effective communication and desired change.

Color Healing
Using the science of color to facilitate the restoration of balance in the
environment and the individual.  Shining colored light on the body to alter its
“vibrations” or aura.  Including the rainbow of colors in the daily diet,
clothing worn, fabric and decor, etc.

Feng Shui
Enhancing the flow of energy within an environment and an individual by
structuring, organizing and decorating the landscape, the lay-out of the
home, office and/or building(s) to maximize energy efficiency.  Creating
balance, peace, health and harmony from diet to décor.

Crystal Healing
Using the energy derived from quartz crystals and other minerals, stones
and gems to influence balance and healing.

Bio-energetics
Reiki:  Channel of energy to patient/client through therapist to facilitate
healing; Laying-on-of-Hands.   Mahikari and Jorei:  A unique practice of
giving and receiving spiritual, purifying energy.

Meditation
Utilizing quiet time and/or soft music to relax the body and to clear and
focus the mind, thereby helping to reduce stress and facilitate healing.

Therapy in which patients/clients are encouraged to envision their desired
